What is Educational Therapy?

Educational Therapy is specialized intervention that addresses the underlying cognitive processes that affect learning. Unlike a typical academic tutor, an ed therapist looks through social, emotional and behavioral lenses to uncover the cause of a client's academic output challenges. Sessions are then structured to find the right path towards academic success. These sessions involve a variety of modalities, metacognitive conversations as well as educational methods to identify a client’s strengths and challenges. We then use a client's strengths to build compensatory strategies while simultaneously building capacity in a client’s challenging areas. Identifying a client's strengths, which they often do not know they possess, is key to supporting each client’s academic journey.
